Affies beat Paul Roos 24-17, while there were also wins for Hilton, St John’s, Helpmekaar and Paarl Boys’ at the St John’s College Easter Festival on Monday.
While both sides were unbeaten going into this match, it was Affies who kept their record intact after coming back from a seven-point deficit at half-time.
Affies winger Carel Koch opened the scoring with an early converted try. But Paul Roos hit back with tries from lock Breyton Maritz and centre Dylan de Villiers. Flyhalf Damian Willemse converted both to give the side from Stellenbosch a 14-7 lead at the break.
Affies scored first in the second half through No 8 Jaco Labuschagne. Flyhalf Ruan de Wet converted to level the scores before Willemse slotted a penalty to put Paul Roos back in front. De Swardt then converted hooker Schalk Erasmus’s try before kicking a penalty to give Affies their third win at the festival.
