Boland Landbou’s one-point win against Stellenberg was one of the most exciting matches in the latest round of Bestmed Western Cape Schools Rugby.
Buoyed by their success against Rondebosch last weekend, Stellenberg put up a valiant performance against Boland Landbou, but suffered a heartbreaking 35-34 defeat.
Stellenberg, who lost 29-28 to Bishops earlier in the month, were in an intense battle against Landbou, and the result showed how little separates the province’s top sides in the Premier Division.
SACS’ overwhelming display wasn’t unexpected, although few would have envisaged the 100-0 win over Durbanville away from home.
Traditional powerhouses Paarl Gym and Paul Roos were also back to winning ways with convincing wins against Bishops (44-24) and Rondebosch (52-15) respectively.
Paarl Boys’ were run close against Oakdale Landbou, but still had enough to remain unbeaten with a 36-31 triumph.
Fairmont High continued an impressive season in the Bestmed Western Cape First Division with a 47-5 victory against President High, while Kasselsvlei, Tygerberg High and Brackenfell also secured wins.
Drostdy Tech remain the best of the Boland schools following a comfortable 54-24 win against Wellington’s Hugenote.
