Boland Landbou

Boland Agricultural Union, formerly the Agricultural Union of the winter rainfall region, already presented itself in 1954 campaigned for the establishment of an Agricultural High School in the Boland. The establishment of a Higher Agricultural School in the Boland for the first time in 1953 in principle approved by the Administrator, Dr. JH0. du Plessis. In 1954, the case gained momentum when new a conference to Malmesbury, with representatives of farmers associations of Durbanville, Philadelphia, Malmesbury, Middle – Swartland, Hermon, Moorreesburg and Hopefield, were held on this issue. The conference decided to manage the Agriculture Union request to him very strongly campaigned for the creation of an Agricultural High School in the Western Cape. The management of this issue tackled with seriousness and its education committee instructed an interview in this regard with the Superintendent-General of Education, Mr. DJ out Liebenberg. From the interview, conducted in 1955, proved that the sg0. the case was sympathetic. He agreed to the request to the Provincial Executive Committee to submit for consideration.
