Paarl Boys’ High beat Rondebosch Boys’ 25-6 in Paarl to extend their winning streak to 38 matches. OLLIE KEOHANE reports.
South Africa’s No 1 team scored three tries to nil, with Charl Serdyn, Wilhelm Barnard and Thaakir Abrahams crossing the line.
The visitors dominated the opening exchanges with two penalties from Sam Cragg giving them a lead 6-0, but that was as good as it got for them as the hosts gradually started to gain the ascendancy.
Paarl Boys’ led 12-6 at half-time and went on to dominate the second half.
Boishaai coach Sean Erasmus told SARugbymag.co.za that his team – eight of whom have been selected for the SA Schools squad – initially struggled with rustiness and a lack of cohesion, but improved in the second half.
‘It’s a matter of coming together again as a team,’ he added. ‘We have a lot of work to do ahead of next Saturday’s fixture against SACS. But that’s the enjoyment in rugby; getting back on track in the week and building towards a quality performance on the Saturday.’
