Triplets Siphosethu, Sinesipho and Siphosoxolo Dlongodlongo starred for Dale College at the Grey High Rugby Festival.
The 18-year-old brothers, who are the first set of triplets to play schools rugby in South Africa, started in both Dale’s matches against Goudveld and St David’s, scoring 37 points between.
In the opening game on Saturday, Dale blanked out St David’s 74-0 with flyhalf Siphosethu and wing Siphosoxolo scoring a try apiece while the former also kicked six of his team’s conversions for a 17-point haul.
Dale thumped Goudveld 60-7 in their second match on Monday. Siphosethu bagged a brace while Siphosoxolo also crossed the line. Scrumhalf Sinesipho didn’t contribute on the scoresheet but he too stood out for Dale.
According to The Herald, the trio are originally from Alice in the Eastern Cape and moved to King William’s Town in 2013 to boost their sporting careers at Dale where they also play first-team cricket.
Sinesipho says that while they strive to play at the best of their ability in every match, it has never been about trying to perform better than each other.
‘It is such an honour to play alongside my brothers – just knowing that they are on the field with me makes me want to play better. We always try to play at our best levels, for the betterment of the team. There is never a problem with us trying to outshine each other,’ he said.
