Eastern Province beat KwaZulu-Natal 17-14 on day two of the U13 Craven Week at Grey College in Bloemfontein.
EP, the Golden Lions, Western Province and the Blue Bulls will all go into day three on Thursday with their 100% winning record intact.
The clash between EP and KZN was a tense but exciting affair. EP scored three tries to two, but it was their defence that stood out as they shut out a determined KZN team close to their tryline on several occasions in the dying minutes.
The Golden Lions overcame Border 18-12, having led 15-0 at half-time. Border fought back strongly in the second half with two tries from Litelihle Bester, one of which was converted, but a second-half penalty goal by the Lions secured the victory.
Western Province cruised to a 41-10 win against the Limpopo Blue Bulls after taking full advantage of the opposition’s mistakes, while the Blue Bulls powered their way to a 22-0 triumph against SWD.
Namibia scored 14 tries in their 92-12 win against Border CD, with centre Jurenzo Julius and Louw Rossouw each scoring a hat-trick.
The Griffons dominated their clash against the Pumas from the outset to clinch a 22-10 victory, while the Valke ran in six tries in their 36-7 win against Griquas.
Leopards flanker Divan Pieters was the star player in his team’s 66-7 victory over Zimbabwe as he scored four of their 10 tries, and Boland put their speedy backs to good use in their clash against Free State to seal a 26-10 win.
