Flyhalf Austin Davids scored 17 points as Garsfontein beat Monument 35-20 in their Beeld Trophy semi-final on Tuesday.
Awaiting them in the final on Saturday is EG Jansen, who edged Waterkloof 34-31 in the first semi-final.
Davids, who played for SA Schools A in the recent U18 International series, starred for the visitors in general play and off the kicking tee. He marshalled their attack and scored a try and knocked over five of his six attempts at goal.
The opening stages were closely contested, but Davids put Garsfontein in the lead with a penalty before three quick tries by prop Hendre Eloff, Davids and No 8 Luke Fortuin made it 22-3.
Monnas reduced the lead with an unconverted try either side of the break. But Davids kicked his second penalty before inside centre Wesley Thompson grabbed a converted try and a penalty to wrap up Garsfontein’s scoring.
To their credit, Monnas fought to the end and would score again but the defending champions’ lead was just too big to overturn.
