Hoërskool Garsfontein coach Tjaart van der Walt was pleased with their 56-17 win over Menlopark last weekend.
Garsies put in a strong performance against the Tuks Series newcomers, running in nine tries in their season opener.
Van der Walt was particularly pleased with how his side translated their pre-season training into match performance. The victors were especially potent on turnover ball, displaying their ability to take advantage of opposition errors.
‘It was a great start for us. We had a good pre-season and some of the things we targeted for the first game went off well,’ Van der Walt told SARugbymag.co.za. ‘There were a lot of mistakes that we need to sort out going forward, but that’s to be expected from the first game.
‘I think we did a few things really well. I was particularly impressed with the tempo at which we played. We also played really well from turnover ball.’
