Biokineticist Derek Heiberg has been appointed as Glenwood’s director of rugby.
Heiberg, who is a World Rugby level-two qualified coach, has worked in various coaching roles across the country and in New Zealand, where he was a voluntary assistant trainer for the Hurricanes.
Since 2014, Heiberg has served as head coach of both the Sharks Club XV and College Rovers’ 1st XV. He previously held the same position at Collegians Rugby Club, leading them to the Murray Cup finals and Moor Cup honours in his first season.
As the head of physical education at Glenwood, Heiberg worked as the strength and conditioning consultant with the schools rugby teams, but has now been promoted to the directorial position.
Glenwood have not confirmed any other changes to their rugby structures for the coming season.
