Hilton were crowned champions at the International Sevens tournament at Rugby School in Warwickshire on Saturday.
As part of their 450th anniversary celebrations, Rugby School in England invited 11 teams from across the world to compete in the sevens event.
Durban powerhouses Hilton and Michaelhouse were the only South African teams present, while Clifton and Marlborough from England, Fettes from Scotland, Llandovery from Wales, Royal Belfast Academical Institution from Northern Ireland, Nelson College from New Zealand, Oita Maizuru from Japan. Shawnigan Lake from Canada and Shore from Australia completed the lineup.
The tournament was played over the course of two days with the 12 teams split up into two pools. The top two teams in each pool qualified for the Cup semi-finals, while the rest competed for Plate and Bowl.
Hilton won three of their four matches on day one to advance to the Cup semi-finals, where they beat Nelson College 17-13. Clifton ousted the hosts 32-7 in the other semi to set up a final encounter with Hilton.
Hilton won the Cup final 22-7, while Michaelhouse won their seventh-place playoff match 19-10.
