A superb attacking display by the backline paved the way for WP’s one-sided victory. Province outscored SWD six tries to two, with fullback Reece du Plessis and outside centre Tiaan Pretorius bagging a brace each.
Two first-half tries handed WP a 12-5 lead at the break, but SWD fought back to within two points with a second unconverted try.
WP were undeterred by SWD’s fast start to the second half and responded with three well-worked tries to secure an emphatic 28-point win.
In other fixtures on day three, KwaZulu-Natal scored a late try to down the Golden Lions 32-29, Namibia thumped Zimbabwe 59-19, the Western Province XV side cruised to a 60-26 win against the Free State XV, the Leopards beat Border Country Districts 46-3, Free State claimed a hard-fought 38-20 victory over Border, the Valke defeated Eastern Province 36-20, Limpopo suffered a 29-19 loss at the hands of the Griffons, Griquas clinched a 24-12 win in their game against the Pumas, and the Blue Bulls inflicted a 43-32 defeat on Boland.
