The Valke beat Free State 16-12 on day two of the U13 Craven Week at Paarl Gym, while Western Province, KwaZulu-Natal and the Blue Bulls are also still unbeaten.
Flyhalf Nathan Steyn opened the scoring for the Valke with a penalty kick in the seventh minute. He then converted prop Jordan Waring’s try before slotting a second penalty to give his side a 13-0 lead at half-time.
Valke centre and captain Reynier Overweg slotted a drop goal in the 34th minute to increase his side’s lead, before Free State hit back with a brace of tries from hooker Ferdinand Vergottini, the second of which came after the hooter.
Meanwhile, replacement Lions flyhalf Henre van Zyl missed a last-minute penalty as Western Province claimed a 5-3 victory against the Golden Lions thanks to a second-half try from fullback Hakeem Kunene.
The Blue Bulls beat the Limpopo Blue Bulls 5-0, with No 8 Charl Ehlers crossing for a try in the seventh minute, while KwaZulu-Natal edged Griquas 10-5.
