Maritzburg continued to enjoy the lion’s share of possession and drove home their advantage with an unconverted try to lead 12-0. But the momentum swung in favour of Hilton in the last 15 minutes.
The visitors cut the deficit with an unconverted try before camping on Maritzburg’s line in search of another. But the hosts’ defence stood firm under pressure to end their on-field Reunion Day events with a flourish.
